Gift for young drawer
Our 13 year old granddaughter wants to begin drawing so she received paper pencils and this project to jump start her efforts.

First attempt at color pencil
I was upset that the instructions did not include upfront what color pencils were needed. There were colors that were not part of a basic set of pencils. When I wrote my complaint/suggestion about that the response was that I should just substitute. Well, yes, I could do that but it would have been nice to know upfront that most likely the pencils I had would not be the “right” pencils. That said, I did a coloring which is so-so. I had downloaded a few copies of the bluebird and have since purchased more pencils and will try again. I wish there were kits that provided notecards to color. I really don’t see myself ever framing the bluebird. I did think the explanations of how to color the bird were very good. I think that the person doing this first time needs to realize that like any skill it will take a lot of practice. This is not something which you can do great the first time.

Hi Ann, Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your review - we really appreciate it! Please note, for all of our tutorials, there is an image of the supply list that you can enlarge on each product page, so you can see what supplies are needed before purchasing the tutorial. The problem with attempting to make a tutorial with only colors used from a specific set, leaves us in a tight spot when the pencil company decides to change up the colors that are included in that set (which happens more often than you'd think.) We're very happy to hear you thought the instruction was good - we hope you'll give another JumpStart tutorial a try! Do let us know if you have any questions or concerns about any of our products - we're here to help! Kindest Regards, Priscilla Summers annkullberg.com
