Colored Pencil with Scratchboard is Mixed Media Magic!

There are so many possibilities when combining these two mediums. Scott will teach you the basics of scratchboard as well as how to make this black and white medium come to life using colored pencils.

About Scott Krohn: Scott loves working in the mediums of scratchboard and colored pencil. He enjoys sharing his passion for art in his teaching of high school art and workshops. He is an award winning artist and continues to show his artwork in exhibitions around the globe.

Scratchboard newbie

I’ve always wanted to learn basics of scratchboard. This was the basics and more. There are those who call themselves teachers and those who are teachers. SCOTT IS A TEACHER! I learned so much from this class and recommend it to anyone wanting to learn from a professional.

Scratchboard is so fun!

Scott's class was a lot of fun! Seeing the image emerge from the black board is so satisfying. Scott is a great teacher with a lot of experience and it shows! If I were to take the class again, I would do two things differently... 1) have a black and white copy of the reference photo printed or on my phone. It would have been a big help to refer to that at the beginning. 2) I would give my hands a break every 15-20 minutes. My arthritic hands were killing me by the end of 6 hrs.

Great Instructor, Great workshop!

This was a very educational, enjoyable experience. Scott's teaching experience is evident. I love finding new, unique ways to use colored pencils and this definitely fills the bill. I have more work to do on this, but am motivated to see it through.

Her heart and her art are happiest creating in her imaginative and illustrative style. Although she does love to create with colored pencils alone, she also enjoys mixing them with other mediums or trying them on unusual surfaces like copper and wood. Teaching is as rewarding as creating her art and she has led workshops in beginner colored pencil, character design, basic drawing skills and creativity.
