What's it like to be a published colored pencil artist?
In preparation for the highly anticipated next volume of CP Treasures, we asked previously featured artists a few questions about how it feels to be part of the book and how it's impacted them.
It makes me so happy to hear about all the wonderful things fellow artists experience as part of this special annual book that truly is a snapshot in time of the colored pencil world - who we are - what we're doing - how much we've grown. This book is a definitive time capsule that will continue to inspire other artists for generations to come.
Let's see what they had to say!

How did you feel when you were accepted?
I was ecstatic when I found out I was accepted! It takes me so long to do a picture ... to be accepted with the VERY best in colored pencil was a blessing!
What what is like once you had the book in hand?
I read every page about each artist to learn how and why they did the picture in the book. I also made sure all my family had one!
How has being in CP Treasures impacted you?
CP Treasures has encouraged me to stretch my limits. I am now trying to set up my own photos using a tripod instead of using other people's photos, especially from my daughter, who is a professional photographer.

What what is like once you had the book in hand?
Pure excitement and elation to be included with other top colored pencil artists in CP Treasures.
How has being in CP Treasures impacted you?
It has certainly gained recognition for me as a colored pencil artist. It has also boosted my confidence to pursue my art style and ideas as an artist, and to present my artwork with new collectors and in the arts industry... plus, to compete with artists of other medium in competitions. I can be proud to show that colored pencil art has a place in the fine arts.

How did you feel when you were accepted?
I can't think of a greater honor than to be featured in such a world class book, confirming that I had indeed achieved something special with Late Afternoon Watch featuring my beloved cat Griffin.
What what is like once you had the book in hand?
It felt very good to hold my copy, but even more to be able to proudly show it to my family and friends.
How has being in CP Treasures impacted you?
If anything, it has spurred me to try to surpass myself by taking new challenges, trying new methods and mediums (for example, trying pastel pencils and pan pastels for my backgrounds) and new papers in hope to achieve better effects so my new artwork can be featured again in future CP Treasures. It encouraged me to take part in more exhibitions and competitions this year. It also made me look at what others were doing in CP Treasures and try to figure out why their work looks so good and what I could do to improve mine for indeed, there is always room for improvement.

How did you feel when you were accepted?
Being accepted from hundreds of entries is a very large feather in an artist's cap! The artwork is published in a lovely full color book of the best international colored pencil art out there! It really gives me a boost knowing that my work measures up. It also looks great on my biography/CV!
What what is like once you had the book in hand?
I made a cup of tea and snuggled down and read every word that each artist had written about their art. It was so inspiring... even for someone like me, who has worked in colored pencil for many years. It made me want to try different techniques, subjects and materials.
How has being in CP Treasures impacted you?
While colored pencil has not been considered fine art in the past, these books prove beyond a doubt, that colored pencil is here to stay as a medium to be taken seriously. When you tell someone your art is published in a book, it immediately makes them feel that someone else feels your work is as good as they think it is! It's funny how suddenly, you are taken seriously as a colored pencil artist.
