Peggy Lohman: Knitting Basket

Knitting Basket, colored pencil artwork by Peggy Lohman, Advanced honorable mention in the 27th Annual COLOR Magazine Member Show

From Peggy: I really enjoyed working out the different textures in this piece.  The knitting supplies you see here are both mine and my Mom’s. She taught me how to knit when I was in high school….and when I look at this drawing, I think very fondly of her.

Judy Hussein: Boys’ Day Out

Boys’ Day Out, colored pencil artwork by Judy Hussein, Advanced honorable mention in the 27th Annual COLOR Magazine Member Show

From Judy: This is a drawing of my husband and eldest son, taken from one of my favorite photos of a trip to Disney World over 20 years ago. In this hectic life we live, these fond memories are what help me balance out all the craziness.

Kathrine Davis: Unwritten

Unwritten, a colored pencil self-portrait by Kathrine Davis, Advanced honorable mention in the 27th Annual COLOR Magazine Member Show

From Kathrine: Unwritten is a self-portrait capturing a quiet pause, reflecting the awareness of entering a later season of life and recognizing what time has taken and given. The face carries evidence of experience, endurance, concern, and quiet resolve, with the marks of age rendered without disguise. There is a sense of waiting shaped by perspective and the understanding that the future is never fully known; the view ahead remains unwritten.
