About In-Depth Tutorials:
Created by master colored pencil artists, each In-Depth tutorial features detailed steps and focuses on teaching you why and not just how the artist applies their technique. No book comes close to the amount of instruction in an In-Depth tutorial. Art instruction books typically contain 4-6 steps per demo. That just scratches the surface! With large images and 28 or more steps, In-Depth tutorials truly show you exactly how the artist works, making it easy and stress-free to learn new colored pencil techniques and achieve success.

I would have liked the tutorial better if I didn't need to connect to the internet to view it. I got the rose tutorial because I needed help with raindrops, I wasn't disappointed.I loved learning to work with panpastels. Thank you Debbie!

I also wanted to let you know you can view the tutorial when you're not online - you just have to download and save it to your computer/device. Thank you, again - and happy coloring! I have used colored pencils for years and this is the one tutoriel that took me up a step to paint beautiful roses. The instructions are easy to follow and the photos really help me to see each step clearly. I would recommend this tutorial to anyone wanting to learn how to draw a realistic rose in colored pencil.
I'd been eyeing PanPastels since they first hit the market, but had not a clue on what I could do with them. So I jumped on this tutorial to learn what could be done with them. Ms. Bowen gives great instruction on how to mix the pastels before putting them to paper and the techniques to use to push the pigment into the surface. I love how the colored pencils seem to glide effortlessly on top of the pastels. Blending the pencils with stumps and watercolor brushes produces amazing results.I also had been eyeing Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper for awhile, but had been waiting for a tutorial that inspired me to learn how colored pencils work on it. It's expensive paper, but so worth the cost. I was surprised it didn't eat up my colored pencils as much as I had feared it would. FC Polychromos are perfect for this tutorial since they hold a point longer than some other brands. I'm a little biased though. This brand is in my top three favorites. My only caveat is to heed Ms. Bowen's advice and practice a LOT on both mixing the pastels consistently and then applying them evenly onto the paper. I wish I had taken more time before starting the background. (I admit my enthusiasm often outstrips my patience, as it did here.) I feel I moved too fast to applying the pastels to the paper. Luckily it's a diffuse background so there's no real wrong application. Overall I'm happy with my results. I wouldn't hesitate to get another tutorial authored by Debbie Bowen in the future.
I have not finished because of a vacation but cannot wait to get back. This is the right tutorial for anyone needing help to master these techniques.
