Can You Smell that Sweet Smell of Success?!

This Jelly Bean class with Peggy focuses on rendering the human nose. The eyes in a portrait can easily generate the most focus, whereas the nose usually takes only a supporting role. Giving enough attention to features other than the eyes can only add to the balance and realistic nature of the portrait. You'll discover how applying strong values enhance a sculpted, multi-dimensional realism to a portrait, while using unique choices of translucent color for the finishing touch.

So sit back and watch this demo for secrets on drawing the human nose to its fullest potential!

You'll learn how to:
• Render a variety of values on the nose for a strong, chiseled construction, while avoiding a harsh look.
• Render the area outside the nose for a natural blend to the less protruding areas of the face.
• Peggy's method that starts with strong, clear values and follows with color, and how it advances the look of realism.

    so creatively inspiring

THis was an amazing class...probably the first time I ever sat and watched someone else draw without having to DO anything.....it was so freeing....to be able to simply listen and watch. Peggys approach to color and technique is so incredibly different (reminds me of John Smolko)....but it has me churning to figure out how I want to incorporate some of that into my work. Probably one of the most uniquely inspiring classes ever...giving a person just enough ammo to arm them in their own creative journey. Fantastic...and highly recommended to anybody who want to shake things up in their work.

    Fun and informative

Peggy's demo was very informative. I particularly liked her color pencil color choices and how she used them to both enliven and tone down various colors. Her freedom to use unusual colors as long as you stuck with the values was fun and hopefully will loosen up this realistic artist. I loved her demo of how to hold a pencil and possibly inch up on the tip as you proceed. The demo included an amazing amount of information for the 90 minutes. I found it possible to draw along with her so that I could learn by experience as well as by watching and I ended up with a most colorful nose. Judy

    Love, love, love!

I really enjoyed Peggy's unusual approach to skin tones. I call it unusual or unique because you have such interesting choice of colors that you wouldn't think that can be used together but they all work really nicely. It was a fun class and very informative!

Fascinating colour choices. Love the Benjamin Button Effect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. So impressed with Peggy’s small colour palette and her constant chatter about what she was doing at any point in time. I could not believe how much was achieved in a short 90 minutes … completing an aged nose and then transforming it into a younger face, the Benjamin Button Effect, right before our eyes, was remarkable! I have booked for the Hair class and looking forward to that. Hope the full portrait class comes up for reservations soon too
