Great book, very inspiring

I've only done one of the projects in the book so far, Dawn's Light. I, personally, was very pleased with the results and, after posting on Facebook, was gratified that it received so many glowing reviews. I plan to eventually work my way through the entire book. Very well done instructions.

Painterly Effects for Drawings

I'm working on the first painting, the cover painting of tulips. Each step is easily followed and I'm learning the value of patience and going that extra step to make each element look finished.

A must- have for all levels!

A perfect addition to her instructional series, this latest book by Cynthia Knox, Painting in Colored Pencil — Dramatic Things, will wow you. Its stunning photography of the breathtakingly beautiful finished art and step-by-step progress photos complement Cynthia’s signature detailed narrative, enabling even a determined beginner to achieve success in colored pencils. Her thorough and extremely informative section on materials is a wonderful guide through the often mind-boggling selection of supplies available for this medium. Her section on techniques is short and to the point, just what an aspiring colored pencil artist needs to get started or to get back to the basics. Additional descriptions in the narrative are a perfect way to learn and immediately apply new techniques. Cynthia’s projects are selected to allow her to render and teach challenging subjects, while her excellent and clear instructions allow the less experienced to participate and learn. I can confidently recommend this book to colored pencil artists of all skill and experience levels.
