Long Animal Fur - Jelly Bean Class with Gemma Gylling

Long fur is simple when you know how. Learn from a master wildlife artist!

This learning project is a small section of fur from a Maine Coon Cat. Gemma will show you the key elements for creating beautiful long fur. You'll learn that long fur consists of long shapes that fall in clumps. The knowledge you gain from this class will easily transfer to all future pet portraits and will serve you for a lifetime. You'll pick up lots of tips and tricks from Gemma!

You will be creating the fur on a piece of a sanded surface paper, such as Pastelmat, Colorfix Smooth or UArt. You will learn how to build your color and shapes and use a brushing technique along with a scratching technique, using a ceramic craft knife.

You'll learn:
• Building layers of color in shapes/clumps of realistic looking fur.
• Brushing technique to blend your colors.
• Scratching technique to build your highlights and lighter strands of fur.

About Gemma Gylling

Gemma is a seasoned instructor and master of cats both wild and domestic. She is the author of the top-selling book, CP Cats. She lives with her husband in Northern California, in a small town called Valley Springs. Gemma works on Pastelmat and has lots of tips and tricks to teach in her workshops.
