Learn to make colored pencil art on a classical surface: canvas!

In this class you will learn a variety of colored pencil skills unique to canvas. Colored pencil needs to be built up as a base layer on canvas in a thin wash with a foundation layer of color and OMS.

Once this foundation layer is created, depth can be built, the weave of the canvas needs to be filled in and highlights can be built upon. It's even possible to even work light-over-dark on some occasions if the colored pencil is applied correctly.

• Use solvent to apply colored pencil in a painterly way and to create a base for subsequent layers.
• Fill the weave of the canvas and complete the top layers and create highlights on the canvas.

Judith Selcuk is a freelance artist living and working in the heart of England. Judith is inspired by her surroundings and her love of the natural world. She has written many tutorials, teaches workshops and classes, demonstrates across UK and Europe and Zooms all over the world, and is a Derwent ambassador.
