Creating botanical art accurately means knowing how to observe your subject. It also means having a having a good understanding of light and shadow, as well as good pencil control. In this class, Amy will guide you through all three to help give you a perfect foundation for all of your botanical drawing.
You'll learn:
• How botanical subjects are comprised of basic geometric forms.
• How to properly shade or "model" forms to achieve a realistic effect.
• Terminology related to light and shadow including direct light, indirect light, lack of light, crest shadows, and more.

About Amy: Amy Lindenberger is the author of several colored pencil instruction books, including CP Surfaces: Black Paper and CP Surfaces: Pastelmat; Amy has taught colored pencil widely for decades, in the Midwest and on Ann Kullberg sponsored Colored Pencil Workshop Cruises. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron (OH) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing.

Each short, focused class is a mere 60 to 90 minutes, but you'll learn lessons you can use for a lifetime. Small projects or single topics that deserve a bit of delving into, Jelly Beans will enhance your skill set and knowledge base in a fun, quick fashion, all from the comfort of your own home. Scheduled on both weekdays and weekends, we hope to accommodate every schedule.
What you need to know:
- You'll receive an email with a link to download the "How to Prepare" PDF that includes the Zoom meeting link and instructions. SAVE this PDF.
- On the day of the workshop, just before class begins, click on the link to enter the classroom.
- As Amy demonstrates, you'll get to ask questions.
