Over SIX engaging classes, you will learn to effectively utilize different techniques to create realistic animal fur, equipping your colored pencil arsenal with many diverse skills that you can apply to your own artwork. Isobel, an enthusiastic and experienced instructor, will expertly lead you through each process step by step. You’ll discover how to layer pencils for a life-like appearance and how to identify and combine colors effectively. Additionally, you will learn to maximize tools such as the Slice Cutter, embossing tool, electric eraser, and a trusty white pencil to create all kinds of furry magic.

Master the use of embossing tools, a Slice Cutter, and the white pencil technique to create stunning white highlights.

Immediately after registering, you'll receive an email with a link to download the "How to Prepare" PDF of instructions to prepare you for class. SAVE this PDF.
On the day of the workshop, just before 10 am Pacific time, click on the link to enter the classroom.
As Isobel demos in class, you'll follow along with the drawing.
During the live workshop, feel free to ask Isobel questions.
A video recording of the session will be posted on Padlet within a few days after EACH class.

About Isobel:

Isobel Buckley is an award winning colored pencil artist and qualified teacher from England with a passion for animals and nature. After achieving a fine arts degree, and teaching in schools for 15 years, she is now a full time artist specializing in wildlife art and online tuition.

Furry Fun

I wasn't able to be present for all of the sessions from start to finish, but when I was able to join the classes I really enjoyed Isobel's instruction. I love drawing fur and I always enjoy taking classes in how to render it, particularly when white or black fur is covered, because that is so challenging. I learned new techniques and tips to get realistic looking fur, in solid, stripes, spots, and long wavy hair like a lion's mane. Isobel is a wonderful and enthusiastic teacher, and has great methods for creating fur in colored pencil. She is thorough and patient, and in addition to the videos themselves, she included written notes on the techniques covered in the class sessions. Thank you, Isobel! I highly recommended Isobel's classes.

Fur Series class was excellent and so beneficial!

Isobel's skill in teaching others to draw animals is exemplary! I signed up for her Fur Series class as I want to draw a dog portrait and my usual subject matter is concrete and steel. In her class Isobel covered techniques, tools and tips to achieve desired results in drawing many different types, colors and textures of fur. Her emphasis on blending, use of tonal values and pencil pressure and sharpness are most helpful. After each class her video was posted along with her notes showing the drawing progression with each step which I found and continue to find most helpful. Isobel answered my questions with very detailed responses and these tips will guide me in my drawing of any subject going forward. Isobel is delight to have as an instructor and her colored pencil drawing enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you to all who made this course available. Highly recommend!
