Learn a variety of pencil strokes and techniques to paint soft, wispy feathers, realistic little eyes and beaks, and natural wood with colored pencils. Cynthia will take you to the next skill level as she teaches you how to transition a colored pencil drawing into a fully saturated painting during this enjoyable two-day Pajama Class.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to:

Paint realistic textures and feather detail of two stunning cardinals with blending and burnishing techniques
Employ a full spectrum of values to create the peeling bark of a birch branch
Establish a smooth and flattering background with colored surfaces

About Cynthia Knox, CPSA: Cynthia is an award-winning professional colored pencil and graphite artist, and the author of 16 art instructional books. She teaches art workshops in the United States and abroad, as well as on cruises, on Craftsy.com, and in Zoom classes for Ann Kullberg. She is a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, a juried member of the International Guild of Realism, and a commissioned portrait artist.

On the day of the workshop, just before 8 am Pacific time, click on the link to enter the classroom.
As Cynthia demos in class, you'll follow along with the drawing.
During the live workshop, feel free to ask Cynthia questions.
4-5 days after the workshop concludes, you'll receive a link to a video recording of the entire workshop.

A lovely project and enjoyable 2 days just as I have found all the many courses that I have taken from Cynthia Knox in the past. Each one has been a wonderful experience. Cynthia has a real gift for teaching and sharing her enthusiasm and passion for art with her students. Her detailed written instructions reflect a large investment of time and preparation for her classes. Her patience and time management during class time and the ability to keep her students of all different skill levels engaged and "on track" during a 6 hour class is remarkable. I have never felt lost or frustrated during one of her classes even when I was a "beginner." She is always willing to answer questions during and after class and the multiple, detailed reviews of a student's "in progress" and final work are extremely valuable to her students. She along with her technical assistant Carolyn have mastered the art of online teaching. I have never experienced any "technical" or visual challenges in any of her courses and the post course videos and class notes are very timely and expansive. I highly recommend this course and look forward to taking many more from Cynthia in the future.

Dynamic Duo/ Brilliant Cardinals

I highly recommend this workshop! It is a fun way to build and practice colored pencil skills. It was a unique experience for me to be able to keep up with the instructor and have a beautiful, finished project by the end of two days. Between the step-by-step instructions and the detailed reviews Cynthia provides, you are almost guaranteed to have created the brilliant cardinals, regardless of skill level. Brilliant Cardinals is an exquisite design and Cynthia Knox is an excellent teacher!I enjoyed every minute of this two day classbecause Cynthia breaks down the design into small, methodical steps. The class was a relaxed pace and there was always time for questions. We were encouraged to email photos of our projects for her to review. She took a lot of time to analyze each part of the design and provided very detailed feedback. Her feedback really is a confidence builder for me. This is what makes her stand out as a teacher. I would definitely recommend her for all levels!

Her heart and her art are happiest creating in her imaginative and illustrative style.
