Fresh Cherries in Watercolor Pencil Pajama Class with Mark Menendez

I am an experienced colored pencil artist, but I've never used watercolor pencils and I've never had much experience with watercolor paints or other brush-related media. I appreciated the time Mark spent on how to lay down color; it's a bit different from regular colored pencils and important to know how to do it properly. I was disappointed that he didn't spend more time on the watercolor part...that is, using a brush effectively. In fact, IMO he could have dispensed with the extended promo for his products and devoted that time to brush technique. There were people in the class who were experienced watercolor artists but needed the pencil techniques; they got what they came for. Those of us in the reverse situation needed some, if not equal time on how to use the brushes. So...the class was good, and I learned a lot. Mark is an effective instructor, particularly in the online environment and I'd recommend his classes to others. Although enlightened about watercolor pencil, I came away somewhat unsatisfied.

Mark is a very good teacher. The subject material was interesting. The workbook detailed. Having never used watercolor pencils before, the class was very enlightening. Thanks Mark

This was my first time working with watercolor pencils. I did not have the brand of pencils that Mark was using, but I was able to use Karen Hull’s conversion chart to select appropriate pencils from another brand. I found it a little hard to achieve smooth color application due to my inexperience with watercolors, but I did have fun and had a positive introduction.
