BEST IN SHOW WINNER

Dolly
Peggy Magovern

Judge's comments: The painterly feel of this controlled but loose use of color pencil is amazing. Her attention to the edges and ability to turn form with temperature in values is expert for sure. The use of unexpected colors in the skin tone is MAGIC. Could look at this all day discovering new things. A portrait that demands attention! Exceptional!

Judge's comments: Everything about this is done so well. Their expressions made me smile. Love the composition and color choices. Beautiful rendering of the faces, clothing, hats, and table reflection. A piece to be proud of.

Judge's comments: I particularly liked the sketchy feel to this piece. Looser in feel but realistic. Lovely figurative portrait! Splendid work!

THIRD PLACE

Judge's comments: At a beginner level this is nicely done. It's not easy to make fur lay correctly and make it believable and you did! Great Puppy portrait. Keep it up!
