Learn to make colored pencil art on a classical surface: canvas!

In this video workshop you will learn a variety of colored pencil skills unique to canvas. Colored pencil needs to be built up as a base layer on canvas in a thin wash with a foundation layer of color and OMS.

Once this foundation layer is created, depth can be built, the weave of the canvas needs to be filled in and highlights can be built upon. It's even possible to work light-over-dark on some occasions if the colored pencil is applied correctly.

Learn hints and tips to create a painterly effect with colored pencil on canvas, and open up a whole new world of possibilities.

• Build up layers of colored pencil onto canvas.
• Use solvent to apply colored pencil in a painterly way and to create a base for subsequent layers.
• Fill the weave of the canvas and complete the top layers and create highlights on the canvas.

Informative class

I learned quite a lot in this class about colored pencils and solvents and how nicely they work on canvas. Judith is a delightful teacher. She works at a good pace, answers questions, and keeps the class interesting and fun. I take as many of Judith's classes as I can find and fit into my schedule. Thank you so much. Thought-provoking class

Judith Selcuk explained a new technique clearly and with enthusiasm. Although a tricky technique to master, it has certainly given me food for thought about how using coloured pencil on canvas could lead to some fantastic artwork, with the added dimension of a textured surface.

A great technique!

I've read about artists creating beautiful pieces using color pencils on canvas, but I didn't have much success trying to figure out the process on my own.Judith Selcuk's Jelly Bean Class demystified the process beautifully!
