DRAW Landscapes in Colored Pencil

  • You can finally stop being afraid of landscapes!
Maybe the scariest thing to tackle in colored pencils is a landscape. Attempting to draw great big landscapes with a teeny-tiny pencil point might seem like an impossible mission.

These 26 master artists will show you how to break down a sprawling scene into a series of small, completely do-able sections.

Step by Step, you'll learn how to:

♦ Draw soft, believable grass without drawing a blade.

Create majestic mountains without using a single gray pencil.

Create depth and atmosphere as subjects come forward and backgrounds recede.

♦ Draw fluffy, moody clouds and perfect, foggy misty skies.

    ♦ and much more!

DRAW Landscapes is a combination of thousands of hours of experience and an absolute encyclopedia of numerous techniques.

DRAW Landscapes in Colored Pencil

I am yet to use the book. A quick review reveals that the artists have used different surfaces - to give a feel on creating it on different types of papers - which is verymuch limiting for an user like me with availability and also to establish myself on a good dependent surface. The cache is - how will it fare on the regular Bristol or Vellum surface of Strathamore or Canson.. Need to try to experience....

Draw Landscapes in Colored Pencil

This was a rare book for me. Colored pencils is an underrated medium, which none the less is pretty powerful and subtle at the same time. Your book allows to discover the step by step process the artists use and their philosophy of seeing. Drawing being seing before anything else. I was attracted by one specific artist and able to discover others. Also the detail and quality of your publication makes it all the more worthwhile. I strongly recommend !

Love It!

After all my years as a painter, I fell in love with pencil. I'm now a pencil artist mainly animals. I have worked with the color pencils up close and detailed. Now I want to do animals in their natural habitat & realized I have never in all my years done a landscape. This book has been a huge help with color choices, textures, values & technique. I'm still experimenting & love it.

I loved this book. I had been avoiding landscapes like the plague because they seemed so daunting to do in colored pencil. After reading through the lessons and advice, I started my first landscape. This book inspired me to draw what I love. I have gained so much information from the different artists that I am sure this will be my go-to reference for landscapes drawings. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

I'm painting landscapes!

As a newcomer, I wasn't sure I'd get enough guidance with this project as I need at this point. To be honest, still life doesn't interest me, and although I worked on a couple of Ann's kits and succeeded I was totally freaked out when I began landscapes. I shouldn't have been! I ordered the Quick Start upgrade with my digital download and highly recommend getting Quick Start, whether with your digital or print order. The reference pictures are large, high quality, and can easily be printed on photo paper, should you desire. As I work in front of my monitor, I didn't need to print the ref, but Quick Start also includes 2 line drawings. One is drawn in very light ink and can be printed onto your support. I printed it right onto my Stonehenge! No tracing, hallelujah! I hope that Ann will consider offering the Quick Start option with ALL her kits. So much easier to just dive right in. Can you tell that I'm thrilled with "Draw Landscapes in Colored Pencil"? I appreciate that there are a variety of artists and styles included. If one style doesn't grab you, another will. Thank you, Ann.
