I was disappointed with this still life how to book. All of the techniques can be found in any beginners guide to colored pencils. The book doesn't offer anything new that would take my drawings to the next level. I wovule not recommend this book and wish I could return it.
Wonderful book. Cynthia always does a great job. Even tho I haven't had a chance to go thru the book entirely yet, I love what I've seen so far.
I bought this book because there were a couple examples that are helpful for the techniques I wanted to explore. The art itself and the content of the book is good. Cynthia Knox does a very good job at explaining the steps and the tools she used to achieve her artwork. However, the minimal size of the original photo images and the line drawing makes it very, very difficult to work with. Also, the quality of the printed images is much lower than the quality delivered in some of the other Ann Kullberg In Depth tutorials. I am aware that there is the option of buying the digital edition. Nevertheless, I don't think I should pay extra 15 dollars for having useful photographs and line drawings. I am disappointed in this respect as the price of $28.00 for the book should have included all this to begin with. I will continue to buy more tutorials but I doubt that I will purchase another book unless the quality improves.
Cynthia Knox has produced another winner with this one. She has carefully chosen projects that are challenging yet her step by step breakdown makes it seem so simple. The different formats available thru Ann Kullberg's web site give you flexibility in how you want to learn. This is not my first purchase from this site nor will it be my last.
I always love Cynthia Knox's instructions. Just got this book and flipped through the pages--already learning something! Looking forward to reading it thoroughly.
