The rough surface of one forces the artist to give up some control, creating a looser style. The super smooth surface of the other allows the artist to push and pull very fine details into the drawing.

Lots of ideas, can't wait to try them out. I already ordered my stone paper. Just need to find some time...So good to see you again Andria
Instructor Andrea Burchett knocked it out of the park on her Zoom demonstration class "Surprising Surfaces". I am a beginner when it comes to using colored pencils and am curious about different ways to use them. Andrea compared and contrasted two different surfaces (Plexiglass and Terra Slate/Stone Paper). It was easy to comprehend as Andrea demonstrated techniques and provided examples of finished pieces with each surface. The pace was perfect making it easy to comprehend and take notes. Bonus: receiving access to the demo for future reference. I would highly recommend this Jelly Bean Class.
The topic is just up my alley - I love experimenting with different media, and so the class was perfect. The class had a small number of attendees, so Andria was able to tailor it to our needs; answering all of our questions.Who knew about coloring on plexy or stone paper?! I am interested in both surface types, but will try the stone paper first - waiting for my delivery tomorrow. Also, It is so nice to have the recorded session, so I can check back when I get stuck.
Really enjoyed this Jellybean class! The topic was very interesting and presentation was very good. It was interesting to see how the color can be moved around on the surfaces. I especially liked the stone paper and I will definitely try it. The color is so bright. While the live class is great, It is also nice that I will receive the recorded video so I can rewatch. This is my first class. Now I wonder what other Jellybean classes are out there. Thanks AndieCeil
This was really good. The instructions were clear and really interesting. So much so that the same day I went out and bought some plexiglass. It's amazing to work on. The only negative I have is that I think a little more time would have been good for each surface. Although as a starter to wet the appetite it was great to cover 2 unusual surfaces.
