Portraits in Colored Pencil Workshop - Part I

I absolutely love teaching my Portraits in Colored Pencil Workshop!

And I think you'll love taking it! This info-packed workshop will bring your portrait techniques to a whole new level in two days that I guarantee will absolutely fly by.  We have FUN in my workshops...and you'll laugh lots, but you'll learn even more.

  • How to create soft, glowing skin tones
  • How to "whisper" and "scream" with your colored pencils
  • How to layer all kinds of color without worrying about getting "mud"
  • The keys to capturing a likeness - and what to do when you've goofed
  • Lucious, realistic eyes

Ann at a colored pencil workshop in FloridaWith step-by-step exercises and lots and lots of mini-demos, you'll see exactly how it's done. Everyone from novices to skilled artists are invited.  I often have "newbies" and artists with 10 or more years of colored pencil experience in the same workshop.  It works just fine - everyone is new to my technique! Only basic drawing skills are required. I provide a portrait reference photo and a basic line drawing.

Hope to see you at a Portrait Workshop soon.  I look forward to meeting you!

Just when I was beginning to think I'd never get the hang of it, this Portrait Workshop came along and turned it all around. Ann is an excellent teacher, not only because her craft is well honed and, thus, lends itself to clear, step-by-step instructions, but also because she is a very warm and friendly (not to mention quite humorous!) Rather than being intimidating, the learning experience was lots of fun; It felt like I was learning from a friend and not just an instructor. The packet of class materials is well organized, and she keeps the pace moving so you leave the workshop feeling satisfied that you have been given the tools to become an accomplished colored pencil portrait artist." - Paula Krause, Fayetteville, GA (September, 2013)
