One of the decks on our beautiful ship - Mariner of the Seas. |
Taken so early that one of the pools wasn't even filled yet! |
This ship had glitz, glamour and class every where you looked. |
Gorgeous, yes? |
One of the entrances to the Casino... |
Nora's second time on a Workshop Cruise - this time as my roomie! This was at the safety drill. |
DAY 2 - NICOLE CAULFIELD'S WORKSHOP - Still Life on Pastelbord
Nicole demo-ing her colored pencil techniques
on the screen behind her. |
Nora gets some one-on-one time with Nicole. |
We had a beautiful classroom for the workshops! |
One of the student's work - fabulous job on those grapes...and colored pencil on pastelbord is fast! |
WOW! Do these look great or what?? Some of the shockingly great student work from Nicole's workshop! |
DAY 3 - OUR FIRST PORT - San Juan, Puerto Rico |
Beautiful beaches in New San Juan |
Old San Juan - the Spanish Fort |
I see a painting in my future with this shot...don't you? |
Wonderful artisan I had the pleasure of meeting at the International Artist's Market in Old San Juan. His clay sculptures of native Indians were detailed and intriguing and he was so passionate about his art. |
The ship looked so beautiful that night as we returned to her after a day spent in wonderful San Juan. |
DAY 4 - OUR SECOND PORT - St. Maartin |
Nora and I went on an excursion that included a little nature preserve. Saw lots of cool and exotic animals and birds! |
Views of the bay. |
The town was adorable. |
Had a great burger and mountain of fries at this little beach side bar. |
And this is the view we enjoyed while munching on fries. |
For $10 you could rent a chair, an umbrella and get 2 beers to boot! |
It looks a bit crowded, but considering the view (below) from your chair, who cares??!! |
For me, this is pretty much the whole reason for going to the Caribbean. Sun, turquois water and gorgeous views... |
DAY 5 - OUR THIRD PORT - St. Thomas |
Pulling into port. |
Great views from the cruise ship decks... |
No excursions for me this day - instead I took a taxi to a beach and saw this view of our ship on the way. |
Magen's Beach.
Ahhh....all alone - just me and sand and sea and sun. |
I spent 5 hours on this relatively quiet beach...half the time I was floating in this warm water. Heaven. |
Same beach, from the parking lot. I hated to leave! |
DAY 6 - My Workshop - no pix! Too busy teaching! But here's a few pix from around the ship. |
3 Happy Students - they'd just called family in Utah and found out there was 3 inches of snow at home! |
ICE SHOW! Yes....there was a skating rink on board and they put on the MOST AMAZING show on a moving ship! Dynamite! |
Who can't love a Mojito served so sweetly?! |
Formal night at dinner - Paula, me and Nora. |
A few more at my table that night - including teacher Gretchen (right) |
Night life fun! |
| This is just funny. There was a plexiglass sculpture on board - filled with Prismacolor colored pencils!! See the intense scrutiny it is receiving?? Do you think this piece of art has ever had such attention before our colore pencil group came on board? Probably not! |
| |
DAY 7 - GRETCHEN PARKER'S Workshop - Marbles! |
Gretchen and students - having fun! |
Beautiful marbles project...Gretchen had great new colored pencil techniques to share! |
I missed getting a shot of all the marbles at the end of the day...but they were fantastic, I promise! |
For me, this final shot sort of says it all about a cruise. Everyone is nice, everyone is happy and it's all good.
Hope you can join us soon! |
