skin tones

I purchased this book because I have a commission to do a portrait of two little girls (adopted sisters) - I do pet portraits, so I needed some coaching on people. You covered skin tones for various ethnic groups, but not Hispanic. Any hints for what you didn't cover?

Hi Valerie, For any skin tone, you want to start with colors in Value Groups 1 and usually 2...then after that you can start leaving some colors out, if needed. But all skin tones (Hispanic or otherwise) are greatly affected by lighting, so it's best to use a value viewer, carefully check the skin tones you are drawing, and then add or leave in yellows, pinks or oranges as needed. I hope this helps! Thank you so much! Best Wishes, Priscilla Summers annkullberg.com
