Step 5 - Rainbow Bird of Paradise
• With repeated touching, drafting film can pick up the oils from your skin, so always handle film by the edges.
• On a scale of 1-5 pressure, with 3 being normal writing pressure, use a 2 pressure for all steps unless otherwise noted. Lighter pressure allows you to apply more layers.
• Unless otherwise noted, a loop or scumbling stroke is used throughout.
STEP 5: On FRONT and still working on the bract (the large center part of the flower), add a patch of LIGHT CERULEAN BLUE immediately below the LILAC and use the feather stroke to blend into the LILAC slightly. Extend the PINK from the tip towards the LILAC in a soft line. Fill in uncolored areas with LIGHT AQUA. intensify the pink color on the left side of bract with MAGENTA. Note how the MAGENTA ends in a slightly rounded area at the top of stem. (Do not use MAGENTA down the stem.)
Flip over to BACK and repeat the color application on bract to intensify the colors. Use a light touch and the feather stroke to blend colors into each other. (Omit the application on back if you are working on paper.)
