Waterlily Colored Pencil Project Kit

This item was listed as being for coloured pencils, but when I started to read the instructions it clearly was for watercolour, as the first instruction was to wet the paper. It went on to tell how to mix your colours, something you never do with coloured pencils. I was very disappointed had I known it was a watercolour project, I would not have purchased it.

Water colors abounding.

When I did this in pencil, it was beautiful. My first attempt at water color on it, I messed it up. Did not use enough water, so the water was too dark. But, I am going to try again.

I dabble in watercolor already and I'm new to CP in recent months so I was intrigued to find a kit with both. However, I struggled a bit with this one, in following the steps and colors and where to put them, and with blending the values. I was analyzing the steps and where they went in the 6 pictures. I really needed more pictures with this kit. I've done other kits and find the 6 pics just fine but not this one. Neither my rocks nor my flower looked anything like the demo steps. Maybe I should have worked bigger? The drawing is very loose which is different from my typical style. Perhaps it was that. I didn't care for the texture of the CP over the watercolor and had a hard time getting CP coverage. I used Fabriano HP watercolor paper in 8 x 10 size. My results wasn't very good and I didn't finish the project.
