    About In-Depth Tutorials:

Created by master colored pencil artists, each In-Depth tutorial features 30+ steps and focuses on teaching you why and not just how the artist applies their technique. No book or video comes close to the amount of instruction in an In-Depth tutorial. Art instruction books typically contain 4-6 steps per demo. That just scratches the surface! With large images and 30 or more steps, In-Depth tutorials truly show you exactly how the artist works, making it easy to truly learn new colored pencil techniques and achieve success.

Note: Drawing paper, pencils and markers are not included. See list of supplies needed in images.

    It was an exciting discovery

I have to admit that I bought this nice kit to learn from it rather than to replicate it exactly as it is provided. I have had the prejudice that if I work with markers, my artistic style would change into an illustrative style. Not so with Mardell Schuster. She shows in detailed steps on how useful it can be to create large areas with markers and use them as underpaint. I have read everything thoroughly and then immediately put it in my own designs. I have never reached this luminosity before. I am very happy about my new discovery and will continue to work for more improvement.

    Tea Time

If you can budget the extra materials, the Copic Markers, this tutorial is a must do. I enjoyed every aspect of Mardell Shuster's Tea Time. Each step of the process was clear, descriptive and easy to absorb. The photos were beautifully printed and very helpful in achieving the right colors in my work.. It was amazing to see how quickly the still life took form, after the markers were applied. It took me about two hours of marker rendering and about twenty-five hours of colored pencil to complete this tutorial. This was a fun project to take on and I hope Ms. Shuster will consider creating more tutorials.

Using markers and colored pencils to enhance and create vivid and deeply lush colors

I liked this tutorial and was glad to see it. Using markers and colored pencils is a technique I’ve used in my classroom for quite a while. But it’s a technique not naturally arrived at if you are buying your media, as many students can afford only a limited amount of colored pencils and markers. I think the key is that this combination allows for inventing colors! That’s an awesome discovery.
