Dura-Lar: Matte Mylar Film for better tracing & more

Matte finish mylar film is an artist's best friend! Sturdier, yet more trasnparent than tracing paper, it easily erases so a sheet can last for years.  It's also fun to draw on with colored pencils! (See our Stones Kit

And it's very useful as a "safety net" - place over your reference photo, trace an area (maybe a mouth you're having trouble with?) then place over your art. Since you can see through it, you'll see where you've gone astray on your drawing.

        Great product

This the second time I have ordered this product. I just love it, especially for drawing cats in colored pencil. You can use it like tracing paper to transfer your photo, drawing or picture. You can then draw on both sides so you can do the background on the back(which shows through to the front) and the cat and wispy fur and whiskers on the front. You can also put your reference under the Mylar at any time to check for accuracy. Mylar doesn't take as many layers of colored pencil but you'll have both sides to use. It takes some experimenting to see how the colors affect each other through the Mylar.

          Great Purchase

I love this film. It can be used to trace your drawing but you can also leave the drawing under the film and work on the film to do your colored pencil painting since it can always be seen through the Mylar film. Both sides can be used so more layers of pencil can be applied. The back side can be used for shading or the background or for special effects since it will show through to the front. It can also be easily erased and lends itself to various techniques and experimentation.
