Portrait Workshop in Glasgow, Scotland

Ann has been teaching people how to draw beautiful portraits in colored pencil for over 20 years.

She's taught in Japan, the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, on 22 cruises and in 44 states in the US and now...

Ann's coming to Scotland, July 2016!

Ann's info-packed 2-day workshop will bring your portrait techniques to a whole new level. In fact, we guarantee the workshop will exceed your expectations on every level or your money back. Ann has fun in her workshops so expect lots of laughs and giggles, but Ann is also very dedicated to teaching you everything she knows and helping you in every way to master her portrait techniques.

Thank you for the wonderful Ann Arbor workshop last month. I learned so much, and have really been in high gear with colored pencils since the workshop! Attending the workshop has been quite inspiring, to say the least! It feels as if I'm learning to see with fresh eyes. I also enjoyed your easy-going manner and accessible teaching style - with such an unexpectedly large class, you still managed to give individual help to each of the participants every day. - Jan Mikina, Ann Arbor, MI

In Just 2 Days You'll:

• Learn how to create soft, glowing skin tones

• Gain confidence in capturing a likeness - and how to fix it if you've goofed

• Master how to "whisper" and "scream" with your colored pencils

• Draw realistic, expressive eyes with loads of depth

• Learn to layer all kinds of color without worrying about getting "mud"

• Understand how to simplify without losing realism

Your class was the best workshop I have ever attended. I had no idea how to color like that, and I now know to slow down and pay more attention to detail. Thanks again for being so real and putting on an enjoyable class. I will definitely come again. - Patty Yolton

Why Learn from Ann?

Besides having written the best-selling colored pencil portrait book, Ann is a pro! Being able to draw portraits is one thing, but breaking technique down into small enough steps to effectively teach it is another thing altogether. Over two decades, Ann has matched her passion for drawing with her passion for teaching and has honed her portrait workshop down to a portrait-artist-making machine.

♦ Struggle with capturing a likeness? Ann will show you how to improve.

♦ Skin tones rough or patchy? Ann can diagnose why in a matter of seconds.

♦ Eyes look flat or lifeless? Ann has dozens of "secrets" to help bring eyes alive.

♦ Dead looking skin? Ann will show you how to make them glow.

With clear step-by-step exercises and constant mini-demos, you'll see exactly how Ann achieves life-like portraits and how you can, too. Even if portraits aren't your thing, Ann's depth of knowledge of color, layering, edges, negative space and more will leave you with new found pencil power! Both novices & practiced artists will learn how to dramatically improve their skills. (Only basic drawing skills are required as Ann provides a portrait reference photo and a basic line drawing to transfer.)

Limited to 16 Students

This Scotland workshop is extra special because it's been 13 years since Ann has taught in Europe. Held in the Millennium Hotel, which is housed in a Victorian building, this upscale hotel is a 1-minute walk to Queen Street train station and a 2-minute walk to the Gallery of Modern Art. Limiting class size to 16, the workshop  won't be crowded and you'll get plenty of Ann's personal attention and guidance.

I wanted to write and tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed your workshop and how much my work has improved since I attended. I learned so much from you in such a small amount of time. Thank you so much for traveling all the way to Florida! - Jennifer Olsen, Palm Coast, FL

No Regret

Now and then, life throws us opportunities that are never repeated. It's unlikely that Ann will be teaching in the U.K. again so this is truly one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunities.

Your teaching style so relaxed and enjoyable and as nervious as I was, I didn’t feel pressured. I learned a great deal that I didn’t know before and enjoyed it so much that I am taking a five-day workshop from you next month! I would recommend your workshop to anyone who has a desire to learn color pencil portraits. - Kathleen Pratt, Salinas, Kansas

I was VERY PLEASED with the portrait workshop in Memphis last year and I LOVED Ann’s positive upbeat manner and the one-on-one coaching she provided. The two days just flew by! I definitely learned what I hoped I’d learn and even something I didn't want to hear…that you must take time to do more layers. The workshop was a great value and I couldn’t believe that Ann also extended the offer to contact her if we needed help in the future.

How has it helped my portrait drawings? The proof is in the pudding – or the portrait! - Carla Sexton, Memphis TN

I’d heard that Ann Kullberg was one of the best portrait artists so wanted to take her workshop. Ann was so organized and prepared and I felt like I had known her for years. She was so personable, patient and helpful and everyone came away with a lot of knowledge on how to approach a portrait drawing. The project and materials were excellent and I actually learned more than I expected to. I definitely now have more confidence in my ability. Ann’s workshop was absolutely worth every penny! - Cristi Booth, Cordova, TN
